It is indeed ironic that many people from diverse backgrounds envy certain physical features typically associated with Black individuals such as lips, hips, and derriere… while simultaneously expressing disdain or prejudice towards their complexions. This phenomenon reflects how society has been conditioned to promote and prioritize light skin as a symbol of beauty and nobility in some countries.


This deep-rooted issue stems from the psychological and social aspects influenced by media in all form.
The advent of social media has exacerbated this issue, with many people using apps to lighten their skin tone or resorting to skin bleaching to conform and be accepted.
The impact of this societal pressure on dark-skinned individuals is profound, affecting their psychological well-being and self-esteem. However, it is crucial to understand that beauty primarily emanates from within, and being Black is not a curse. The focus should shift to personal development, empowering those with dark skin to embrace their inherent beauty and defy the negative influences perpetuated by the media and society.
